Depending on how your classes are set up, this step will likely be completed for you already. If you have any trouble assigning lessons to students in a new class period, be sure that each Class has been assigned a Course. You can check with the Assign Courses button in the Class Period Cog or Settings Gear dropdown, shown above.
It's important to Assign Courses because I may teach Chemistry to my Period 8 class, but Honors Chemistry to my Period 7. The Course assigned to each Class Period will determine which lessons are available to assign to the students in that class.
If I teach only one class of students all day, like an elementary school homeroom, I may have all of my courses (Math, Science, English Language Arts, etc) assigned to that one class.
